Post Op Care of a Root Canal

Post op care:

In most cases when a root canal is performed by an Endodontist, a temporary filling is placed in the opening of the tooth. This filling usually takes time to harden and you will be advised not to chew on the tooth for a couple of hours. Then you will contact your restorative dentist to arrange a time to replace the temporary filling, or to restore the tooth as necessary. You will be given oral and written instructions for post op care. Most often patients have a mild to moderate soreness or tenderness to bite. Mild to moderate symptoms can be handled with over the counter anti-inflammatory medications to minimize discomfort. About 10% of the time a stronger pain medication will be needed.

“All in all my experience was most pleasant considering I was having a root canal. I would certainly recommend your practice.”
